In response to World Vision's "Skip-A-Meal, Make A Difference" Project, the Langham Place yoga team held a 2-hour Saturday afternoon charity class "Skip-A-Meal, Be a Famine Warrior". It started off with a vibrant fire ceremony, signifying that each of us first receives blessing from the Universe. As our hearts become illuminated by Grace, we share the Light with those around us. Then followed a session of silence flow yoga choreographed and led by Jasmine, Will, Samrat, Deva and Martina - in silence, our intention and energy unites even more strongly. We ended with a joyous meditation and singing "Heal the World" from our hearts.
The event was greeted with overwhelming response: more than 100 students participated and generated a total of $102,433 in donations. Teacher Deva summed up the class beautifully: "Although this looks like a "fund-raising" event, we must remember that the money is not actually ours - it doesn't belong to us. We must examine how we live, for our luxury and over-spending is contributing to others' suffering. The true intention of today's class is to raise consciousness, to truly expand our world and go beyond ourselves." |
