Featured Teacher: Linda

An animal lover and protector in the complete sense, Linda is a local Taiwan gal who cherishes happiness and freedom. Like the people who have inspired her, she strives to maintain selflessness, thankfulness and humility in her yoga practice and daily life.

Where are you originally from?
Taipei, Taiwan

How long have you been teaching?
3 years

Who was your very first yoga teacher and what was he/she like?
My parents, who have taught me the essence of yoga: kindness to all

How long have you been practising?
5 years

Originally, what attracted you to yoga?
To cure some chronic illnesses

What motivates you to practise today?
"Lokah Samasta Sukihno Bhavantu" - To do my part to help all beings everywhere be happy and free; and may the thoughts, words, and actions of my life contribute in some way to that happiness and freedom for all beings. To share all the wonderful benefits (to oneself and to all other beings) by being a vegetarian.

How would you describe your personal practice?
Conscious and connected to earth and heaven.

Before you became a yoga teacher, what did you do?
Lots of stuff - and all these past experiences have led me to become a yoga teacher

What do you love about teaching?
I get to do my part to help students be healthy, happy and free; and hopefully to help all other beings everywhere be happy and free

What do you find challenging about teaching?
I don't see any class as a challenging class; I see every class as a chance to share the joy and freedom that yoga practice can bring to us.

Describe your ideal class (as a teacher).
Every class is an ideal class when everyone can be mindful and at peace with oneself.

What teacher has had the biggest impact on your practice?
There are many great teachers in my life who have made an impact on my yoga practice. I will be forever thankful for Stephen Thomas (We gave him a nickname" Lao Da" - He's like a big brother who is always generous in sharing his teachings with us; Sharon Gannon and David Life (the founders of Jivamukti Yoga, who taught me the pure beauty of these powerful Sanskrit words " Lokah Samasta Sukhino Bhavantu")

What is your most embarrassing moment in the studio (as a teacher or student)?
It's too embarrassing for me to even bring it up...Haha (so it will remain a secret forever!)

Where is the strangest place you've practised yoga?
There's no strange place for me when I do yoga practice.

Aside from yoga, what other hobbies or interests do you have?
Reading, music, and surfing the Internet to learn about what goes on in the world around us

Describe your most profound yoga experience.
Every yoga experience is a precious and unique experience for me.

If you weren't a yoga teacher, what would you be?
Animal-rights spokesperson. I also share this sentiment in yoga class with students whenever I can.
