Classical Indian Music Concert:
The Yoga of Sound - Nada Yoga
Indian classical music is one of the most sophisticated and complete musical systems ever developed. Arising from the ancient yogic tradition, Nada Yoga, this deeply inspired music will elicit and stir your emotions.
Treat yourself and friends to this amazing musical performance. (Nada Brahma ~ sound as a pathway to the divine)
This evening of music will feature the genius of Shubhendra Rao on sitar and the inspired tabla playing of Ty Burhoe. The sitar is an amazing 24-stringed instrument. It was first heard in popular culture when George Harrison from The Beatles began studying with Ravi Shankar and then presenting it on their recordings. Its divinely inspired and brilliant tone elevated the sitar to become the shining star of Indian classical instruments. Shubhendra's deep knowledge of the tradition and his creative, joyous expression bring the ancient yogic states of meditation into contact with the intensity of modern life. The tabla is considered one of the most complex instruments on the planet and is capable of producing an amazingly sophisticated and melodious voice. Ty's playful and expressive playing style invites the listener to "let go", and come into rhythm with the heart.

Shubhebdra Rao
Renowned Sitar Player
Shubhendra Rao is a brilliant light for the tradition of the sitar. A protégé of world-renowned maestro, Pandit Ravi Shankar, his inspired performances are reminiscent of his Guru yet uniquely his own. Through years of rigorous training and practice under his illustrious Guru, Shubhendra received a firm foundation from where he could explore the world of music and build his own musical persona. Both in his role as a performer as well as a composer, Shubhendra Rao creates an experience for his audience that ranges from the introspective to the resounding.
A child prodigy who started playing the sitar at the age of 3, Shubhendra's first teacher was his father, N.R.Rama Rao, a noted and close disciple of Pandit Ravi Shankar. Shubhendra had his first lesson from Ravi Shankar at the age of 8 and in the ensuing years, he would travel the country to continue his learning. From that time until now, Shubhendra has travelled the world sharing not only the brilliance of the Classical Music, but also a wide variety of fusion collaboration with musicians of all traditions.
