Forrest Yoga helps you connect to your core - getting strong and centred. It uses heat, deep breathing and vigorous sequences to sweat out toxins while the long holds in the pose progressions help you flush, oxygenate and rejuvenate every cell. As a beginner to Forrest Yoga, you learn to breathe deeply and connect in feeling with your body. As you progress, you get proficient at safely tailoring each pose to work best for you, particularly with physical and emotional injuries. Learning to work honestly at your edges, you develop effective tools to deal with fear and struggle. This makes it possible for integrity, self- awareness and playful curiosity to become part of your daily life. Forrest Yoga does not require strength or flexibility; it only requires that you bring a willingness to learn how to feel authentically and respond honestly. As you advance in Forrest Yoga, step by step, you learn to intelligently ride your breath into the exhilarating advanced poses. In addition, you learn to exercise your emotional body through the full spectrum of feeling. Forrest Yoga honours and celebrates the beauty of life and the power of Spirit. It is an inspiring yoga practice that builds flexibility, intelligence and strength while helping to deepen the relationship with your authentic self. Class Descriptions
1-Day Continuing Education for Teachers (CET)
Forrest Yoga Sequencing Forum (AM Session)

Learn the theory of sequencing Forrest Yoga classes. In a lecture setting using flip charts, we will deconstruct actual Forrest Yoga classes to better understand the theory behind the sequencing. You will use the knowledge you gain in this course plus your wisdom to sequence classes and develop relevant class themes and supporting pose cues. This class is especially helpful to Forrest Yoga teachers or those preparing to take a Forrest Yoga Teacher Training Course or any teacher interested in enhancing their sequencing skills.

Forrest Yoga Master Class & Hands-On Assisting Clinic (PM Session)
Begin with a Master Class designed to warm you up and take you to your edges and beyond, experience new and exciting places in your yoga practice. With Jonathan, develop effective assists to help your students go deeper in their poses. Learn about pose structure and alignment and how to modify for some common physical injuries and limitations. Create a healing and nurturing environment to facilitate your student's growth and healing.

Weekend Workshops
Forrest Yoga Basics - Beginners

Learn from the ground up the philosophy and the poses that make up this profoundly healing yoga system.

As a beginner to Forrest Yoga, you learn to breathe deeply and connect in feeling with your body. As you progress, you get proficient at safely tailoring each pose to work best for you; particularly with physical and emotional injuries. Learning to work honestly at your edges, you develop effective tools to deal with fear and struggle. This makes it possible for integrity, self- awareness and playful curiosity to become part of your daily life. Forrest Yoga use intense pose sequences, compassionately taught, to develop skills in awakening each of the senses. It teaches you to bring aliveness, using breath, into every cell of your body, igniting your passion for living.

Deepen your Backbends
An asana class designed to deepen the connection to your breath and core. Establishing lines of energy through the legs and connecting to your leg power, we will do little backbends to warm up for deeper backbends. From there we will move into new territories of flexibility.

Yoga to Build Healthy Habits
Many habits that we have in our life and in our yoga practice come from unconscious, habitual patterns that are not always healthy or beneficial to us. In this class, you will use yoga to identify these unconscious patterns of movement, thought and emotions. It will begin to help you cultivate healthy patterns that will benefit your yoga and your life

Meditation & Pranayama
Meditation is the science of mind. Learn to be the Master of your mind. Learn how meditation can help you to quiet your mind and be more relaxed. Learn to be focused and centred in your life. Meditation changes your life and helps you stay focused on what is most important to you.

Pranayama is the science of breath. Breath is the key to power and strength. True power comes from your ability to control your breath. Our health and our sense of well-being are greatly enhanced by how deeply we breathe. Learn breathing techniques that will help you increase your ability to breathe deeply and make your breath work for you. We all want to be more relaxed, healthy, effective and powerful in our lives. Now is the time to do something about it. Bring meditation and pranayama into your life.

Inversion and Arm Balancing
Inversions and arm balance poses are challenging and exciting. They require that you integrate every aspect of your yoga practice. Use your core strength, deep breathing and intense focus to align yourself precisely. When you are integrated and in alignment, inversion and arm balance poses feel effortless

About Jonathan Bowra
Jonathan Bowra
Forrest Yoga and Zen Meditation teacher
Teachings that foster insight, compassion and humour


Jonathan has spent the last 9 years as "road manager", lead assistant and co-teacher to yoga innovator Ana Forrest. He travelled with Ana nationally and internationally as lead assistant in her workshops and yoga conferences. He also co-taught the 24-Day Forrest Yoga Teacher Training. Jonathan is known for his deep knowledge of yoga poses as well as his gentleness, skills and humour in guiding students to deeper understanding of their bodies and yoga practices. Jonathan is a long-time practitioner of Zen Meditation. He began practising in 1980 with Zen Master Seung Sahn, moved into a residential Zen Meditation Center and lived there for 8 years. In 1989, Jonathan took novice monks precepts that he kept for 4 years. Meditation and yoga are a part of Jonathan's daily life. He is passionate and dedicated about sharing these practices with others.
