Session I: Building Blocks of Astanga Yoga
20 July (Fri)
7:30pm - 9:30pm
We will explore the fundamentals of Breath, Sun Salutations, Vinyasa breath movement system, basic seated postures and some finishing postures in a clear and light-hearted fashion. Foundations of technique and alignment will be addressed. Suitable for beginners, advanced beginners and those new to Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga.
Session II: Traditional Ashtanga Primary Series
21 July (Sat)
10:00am - 12:30pm
This is an opportunity for students to experience the Primary Series of Ashtanga Yoga in a relaxed and informative manner. Aspects of vinyasa, dristhi, bandhas, and yoga philosophy will be presented. Modifications will be given for the more difficult poses in the Series. Difficult postures such as Marichasana D, Bujapidasana and Supta Kurmasana will be broken down in detail. Suitable for students of all levels who have an established and regular Yoga practice.
Session III: Techniques, Alignment and Core Integration Workshop
21 July (Sat)
2:00pm - 5:00pm
This workshop will provide the student with concrete information, examples and tools for working on the Jump Back and Jump Through of the Ashtanga vinyasa breath movement system. Seated Postures, Shoulderstand and Headstand will be broken down in detail. Activation and integration of Core musculature and energetic locks known as Mulabundha and Uddiyana Bundha will be explained. Technique and alignment of postures will be refined, allowing for efficiency of muscular force, correct breathing, and an increase in the flow of prana - our subtle, vital energy.
Session IV: Hip Opening and Backbending Workshop
22 July (Sun)
10:00am - 12:30pm
Be prepared for happy hips and shoulders. This workshop is a stepping stone to accessing the tight and sometimes troublesome areas of the yogi's body. Be prepared for an assortment of unique postures culminating towards the eloquent posture, Raj Kapotasana, for a liberation of the pelvis, shoulders, spine and heart. By nature, a well-attended workshop.
Session V: Backbends, Twists and Arm Balance (Introduction to Intermediate 2nd Series)
22 July (Sun)
2:00pm - 4:30pm
A healthy balance of poses sequenced to develop core strength and tone the nervous system. Cornerstone postures of the Intermediate Series such as Pashanana, Kapotasana, Ekapadashirshasana, Pinchamayurasana and Mukta Hasta Shirshasana will be introduced.
Foundations of technique, alignment and injury prevention will be addressed. Recommended for those who have a regular and consistent yoga practice along with proficient backbending. |

| About Clayton Horton |
|---|
Clayton Horton is the Director of Greenpath Yoga. He has been a student of yoga for over 23 years and began teaching in 1996. Clayton has studied with both masters Sri K. Pattabhi Jois and the Greensufi for a period of over 14 years. His practice and teachings are rooted in the Ashtanga Vinyasa Tradition and daily meditation. He is a member of the Yoga Society of San Francisco Brahmananda Ashram and a Founding Board Member of the Green Yoga Association.
His teaching style is traditional yet light-hearted and relaxed. Clayton believes that by practising and living yoga, we can transform ourselves and the world around us. According to Clayton, "Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga is a complete and well-balanced system in which an experienced and skilled teacher can help any student 'find their place' within its structure regardless of individual challenges, aptitude and constitution."
From 2001-2006, Clayton operated Greenpath Yoga Studio in San Francisco, California. The studio was one of America's first Green and Environmentally Friendly yoga studios, and was an inspiration with its progressive yoga programmes, philosophies, events and authenticity.
Clayton received Formal Authorisation to teach Ashtanga Yoga from the Ashtanga Yoga Research Institute of Mysore, South India in 2003. He continues his study at the K. Pattabhi Jois Ashtanga Yoga Institute under the direction of Sharath Jois. He travels regularly in Asia, Europe and South America to teach workshops, trainings and retreats.
