Welcoming Judy Krupp
Finding Freedom of the Body in Movement

20-22 August, Tsim Sha Tsui

Add to Outlook calendar    Add this event to Outlook calendar

About the Workshop
Move beyond your perceived limitations with a better understanding of the body's natural strength.

Judy's passion lies in educating students about the science of human movement in relation to the art of the asana practice. She will help you recognise the restrictions and imbalances that prevent you from being able to flow with ease and grace. Yoga is a dance of unity, connecting mind, body and breath.

Join Judy for a weekend of furthering your knowledge in yoga philosophy, meditation, pranayama, asana and all aspects of the yoga practice.
All workshops will be taught with a therapeutic approach to the themes.

Schedule and Description
Friday - Sunday, 20-22 August

Session 1: Extended Learning
Friday, 20 August
7:00pm - 9:30pm

When teaching asana it is important to be able to read and respond to restricted movements in the student's body.
The ability to work with one's own physical limitations and knowledge of the human body's biomechanics will help you to become a teacher who is sensitive to your student's needs. This workshop is designed for experienced students and teachers, showing you how to recognise the most common misalignments in postures so they can be accurately corrected.

Session 2: Creating Freedom of the Body Moving in All Directions
Saturday, 21 August
10:00am - 12:30pm

Our everyday habits reinforce postures that hinder our movements.
In this class we will explore the actions of co-contraction that can switch on this very necessary support that allows moving into the art of the practice using the science of movement. We will look not just at the flexibility of the hips but just as importantly, the strength!
Open to all levels

Session 3: Moving into Inversions
Saturday, 21 August
2:00pm - 4:30pm

Structurally we are designed to swing - yet our lifestyle makes us sit!
This class is designed to undo the effects of sitting, standing badly and postural imbalances. You will work to find the strength and length of the upper body to support inversions.
Open to all levels

Session 4: The Balance of Length and Strength for Integrity of the Spine Working into Beckbends
Sunday, 22 August
9:30am - 12:00pm

Backbends invigorate and energise the whole body, and are essential for a balanced practice.
This class will show you how to support and strengthen the core muscles, as well as create openness of the front of the body to help undertake backbends safely.
Open to all levels

Session 5: The Dance of Flow
Sunday, 22 August
2:00pm - 4:30pm

In order to move with ease and grace, connecting fluidity and a sense of organ support must be used.
In this class we will use all the principles of alignment with fluidity to create an energising dance of flow.
Open to all levels
