Hilda

Hilda
When she was a Cathay Pacific flight attendant in 2003, Hilda exercised a lot and had a healthy eating habit but still felt unhealthy, stressed, jet-lagged and off-balance. So, she decided to give yoga a try. Originally, yoga was just a way for Hilda to improve her flexibility and posture - she couldn't reach her toes in forward bend or do HANUMANASANA (Monkey pose).

But the more she practises yoga, the more she loves it. Hilda realises that besides the physical body, yoga encompasses the emotional and spiritual bodies as well. "Yoga guides me to be in touch with my breath and brings me back to the present moment. Yoga guides me to open my heart, listen to it and follow it. Yoga quiets my restless mind and brings me back to my centre (my heart). Yoga guides me to let go and go with the flow."

Hilda's very first yoga class was a hot class at Pure Yoga in 2004. She still remembers "sweating like a pig", being out of breath and her legs shaking. She thought that she wasn't ready for the yoga classes at Pure. After practising for several years at another yoga studio and feeling like her yoga journey was going nowhere, Hilda gave Pure another try in 2009 - and was completely receptive to it. "Everything comes at the appointed time. My body and my mind are stronger. Now I am so in love with hot flow. The key is to stay in touch with the breath. As long as the breath is flowing, then I am flowing without any effort."

Hilda completed the Yoga Instructor (Foundation) Course by the Asian Academy Sports and Fitness Professionals in 2007 and 250-hr Yoga Teacher Training Certification Program by Yoga Limbs, Hong Kong in 2009.

"All that we are is the result of what we have thought. It is founded on our thoughts, it is made up of our thoughts." - The Dhammapada
