Gopal
|
Gopal hails from Tamilnadu, Chennai (city of temples) in southern India. He began practising yoga for fun at 9 years old but found it slowly got fused into his blood and breath. He had always loved sports and the challenge of it. Gopal discovered a different kind of motivation with yoga - trying to experience the nature of mind in various postures inspired him to delve deeper to understand the flow of prana.
Having taught yoga since the age of 17, Gopal has well over a decade of teaching experience. His very first guru who brought "this beautiful art into my life" was Guruji Chakra Paandi from the highly accredited Vivekananda Vidhyalaya school in India. Gopal remembers fondly that his guru always stressed the importance of mental discipline in yoga even while practising its physical postures. "I was one of his naughtiest students and forever receiving lots of punishment," he recalls.
Gopal later learned yoga philosophy from his spiritual guru, the world renowned Master Kamal, whom he considers "one of the best and most inspiring in the universe" that he has ever met.
Apart from practising yoga, Gopal loves ballet (he has a background in Russian ballet), Indian folk fusion, Muay thai, soccer, volleyball, badminton, swimming and music.
