Shyam

Shyam
Shyam is a skilled yoga teacher who has been teaching since 2002. He comes from an orthodox Indian family in Chennai, Tamilnadu, a land of ancient heritage. He has been practising yoga since his childhood, his grandfather Mr.P.S.Viswanatha Iyer being his first teacher. Shyam has been certified as 'Yoga Acharya - Master of Yoga' by Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centre in India. He feels blessed by the grace and teachings of Swami Sivananda, and is grateful for having learned from teacher Swami Govindananda. Shyam has also studied with many experienced teachers both from India and the west, and hence understands both perspectives.

Shyam's teaching methodology includes physical control from both external and internal muscles through bandas and meditative mental focus on mindfulness of the body and breath. He is a stern believer in 'injury-free practice' using the intelligence of sensation. For him, "Being a yoga teacher is the best way to help people discover their inner happiness and peace."

Shyam teaches all levels of Hatha, Power, Hot, Yin, Yin Yang, Pranayama & Meditation classes, workshops and yoga retreats.
