Anna L

Anna L
Originally from the Philippines, Anna has been a resident of Hong Kong for 17 years. After a long career as one of Hong Kong's top models, Anna had suffered from chronic back pain. Since practicing yoga regularly, Anna has healed herself, successfully restoring the lumbar curve to her spine. Anna has studied with Bikram in L.A., Baron Baptiste in Mexico, and Paul Dallaghan in Thailand. Anna teaches Hot1, Hot Hour, Power and Yin Yoga.

Anna L's Books

Anatomy of Hatha Yoga
H. David Coulter
A comprehensive and authoritative source that correlates the study of hatha yoga with anatomy and physiology.

Journey into Power
Baron Baptiste
Empowering. First book I read that so inspired me, I just had to go to his teacher training.

Ashtanga Yoga: The Practice Manual by David Swenson
David Swenson
I think this is the best book on the practice of Ashtanga yoga. Easy to follow. Offers modifications you can work with to help make your practice less frustrating and injury free.

Anna L's Tips

Work on your alignment and discover how much easier the pose becomes. Continue to be diligent about your alignment so you don't fall into bad habits like overworking the parts of you which are already strong and flexible and under-working the parts which are weaker or tight.

Practicing with a friend can create a more relaxed atmosphere that can make the whole experience easier and more fun. And having the moral support of a yoga partner can encourage you to be a bit more brave than when you're on your own.

Cultivate playfulness in your practice. Bringing curiosity, lightness and self acceptance into your practice can have a huge impact. Make peace with the poses which frustrate you, rather than fighting to master them.
