With her passion for movement, Erika's first love was dance - everything from ballet and jazz to modern and hip-hop. In 1998 at her college dance festival, she did her first Surya Namaskar with New York dance choreographer Doug Elkins. However, it was not until 2002, when she began to practise with Ashtanga teacher Robert Boustany in Texas, that she made yoga a regular part of life. In yoga, she found the same challenge and fun she had in the dance world, realising that it was not dance necessarily that she loved but the freedom in movement, body and mind that was so powerful.
A move to Hong Kong brought Erika to Pure Yoga where she completed Pure's teacher training programme with Patrick Creelman in the summer of 2007. Since then, she has completed trainings with other teachers including Seane Corne, Twee Merrigan, and Shiva Rea - Twee and Shiva being incredible inspirations by bringing her back "into the flow". They have inspired her to constantly seek out the natural freedom and creativity in all of us by not just "doing" yoga, but aiming to "be" yoga. Erika is forever grateful to all of her teachers. |

Erika's Tips
| Go with the flow. Honour your energy and level of practice. Go with it, not against it.
Don't be afraid of looking clueless. Everyone else is too worried about themselves to look at you.
Don't think. Just move. And have fun.
