Ivy began her career as a professional physiotherapist in 2002. Ever since she stepped onto the yoga mat, she saw yoga as a perfect remedy for various ailments and was inspired to integrate yoga in her therapeutic practice.
Recognising that western medicine and physiotherapy are not one-stop solutions for most ailments, Ivy found yoga to be a complementary therapeutic modality. She feels that it was her destiny to study physiotherapy in preparation for her yoga journey. When the alignment principles of yoga combine with physiotherapy knowledge, she can truly experience how "yoga is meant to heal, not meant to hurt".
Besides incorporating it into her patients' world, Ivy consciously extended the therapeutic benefits of yoga to all facets of her life. She completed Martina's Hot Yoga Teacher Training at Pure to become empowered as a qualified yoga instructor, in the hope of expanding her horizons and be better able to serve beyond the clinics.
During her practice, Ivy always reminds herself of the following:
1) Awareness is your source of healing.
2) Be mindful of alignment and listen to your body, rather than judging the pose by what it looks like.
