Meditation & Pranayama
Each morning we will begin with 30 minutes of meditation and pranayama. The practice of silence clears the mind and creates space to set intention for the day; the practice of pranayama purifies the body and grounds us to the present moment. Beginning each day with meditation and pranayama is one of the most critical components within the training: it nurtures the seed of being a teacher within us.

Asana Practice
Every day we will have two asana classes: one in the morning and one in the afternoon. The morning practice aims to deepen and grow the various principles within the hot series, while the afternoon practice focuses on the teaching aspects of the series.

Posture Clinic
Principles of alignment, benefits and contradictions, modifications and adjustment will be covered thoroughly in the posture clinic. We'll move through each posture in detail to offer you hands-on, practical knowledge in aligning yourself and guiding others in the safest and healthiest way.

Anatomy & Physiology
We will take a look at the basic principles of anatomy and physiology of hatha yoga, explore the mechanics of breathing, how to prevent injury and ultimately delve into what it takes to be fully responsible for our health. The study of anatomy and physiology will empower you to help yourself and others to achieve optimum health.

Ayurveda
Ayurveda is known as the "sister science" of Yoga. We'll explore the ancient science with the intention that brings you self-understanding and healing, and develop a lifestyle that best supports your health and growth.

Practice Teaching
The seed of teaching is in all of us. As human beings we each possess the natural ability to connect and inspire; as grown-ups that ability is often hidden or denied. In the practice teaching sessions, you will have the opportunity to let go of those barriers and be courageous in taking the seat of the teacher. You will be offered one-on-one coaching and feedback - what comes with that is a new enthusiasm and confidence in your ability to teach.

Teaching Methodology
Here we will take a look at the different practical components that make teaching effective: your intention and attention, your voice, body language, presence and communication. We will explore how to create a positive and supportive environment for students, how to respond to different situations in classes, and how to continuously develop and support yourself on the journey of teaching.

Assisting
You will begin to develop the ability to observe and to respond by assisting your student in the most appropriate way through manual adjustment, instruction, and demonstration. We'll be using different partner work to demonstrate the principles of assisting and you will have the opportunity to experience the effectiveness of assisting and offer feedback to each other.

Kriyas
The yogic kriyas, or cleansing practices, play an important role in the tradition of hatha yoga. We'll first take a look at the six cleansing practices (Shat-Karma) and you'll be supervised and guided to perform nasal cleansing (Neti) and abdominal cleansing (Nauli). You'll be left with the ability to continue these rituals in life and experience a newfound freedom in your body.

History and Philosophy
We will take a look at the major philosophical schools and explore how they shape our current practice. The study of history and philosophy is intended to lead you to new discovery and enquiry towards the purpose of yoga - and ultimately towards the purpose of your life.

Bhagavad Gita and the Yoga Sutra
The Gita and the Sutra: the two important yoga texts will be studied thoroughly throughout the training: we will discover how these ancient texts are indeed very much alive in our present time, and explore how their central teaching provides wisdom and guidance in the everyday challenges we face as yoga students and teachers.

Sangha and Kirtan
Being in a community supports us on the journey of learning and discovery; sitting together at the end of each day will cultivate our capacity to experience growth as a community and discern truth in each of us. Kirtan is a form of Bhakti Yoga, the yoga of devotion, which involves call and response - the power of chanting together each day invokes in us the experience of unity and oneness.
