Michael has been living and teaching yoga mostly in India since 2004 - in south Goa during winter and in the majestic Himalayas during summer. Although originally trained in Iyengar Yoga, his vision of yoga goes beyond all the divisions and differences in styles and methods. Michael teaches and shares experiences from more than a decade of sadhana, or self-study. He doesn't see his practice as separate from his life. Each progresses and influences the other - an experiential sutra or thread, interwoven in all aspects of life from his first breath in the morning to his last dream at night.
Letting life flow, allowing things to be as they are, and examining how a steady and easeful yoga practice can help us to get in touch with our true natures are all things that Michael holds dear to his heart. Learning how to stay soft and open in even the most difficult poses are yogic aspects to explore and experience, not things to be thought about or contemplated. In Hatha Yoga we use our body to reveal that we are actually much more than just the body. Other influences include Anusara Yoga and Hanna Somatics, a profound system of neuro-muscular mind-body retraining.
