Back to Tradition: Breathing, counting and vinyasa with Daniel Wu August 19 - September 9 Sundays at 10:30am - 12:00pm Urban One
Ashtanga is not only powerful, non-stop asana practice - it contains traditional yoga philosophy, pranayama, and meditation skills. The primary series is known as "yoga chikitsa," which means yoga therapy. It helps to enhance the process of cleansing and toning for the body, mind, and senses.
This workshop aims to introduce the traditional methods of practising Ashtanga. We will start from its lineage, background, the Sanskrit names of each asana in the primary series, the counting method and vinyasa. We will also discuss the 3 fundamental elements of Ashtanga - bandhas, breath, and dristi and explore all the asanas in primary series within 4 weeks. Beginner students will learn how to get into alternative poses safely.
This complimentary workshop is open to all. Registrants must be able to attend the entire workshop - drop-ins are not accepted.
Reserve your mat by contacting any of our studios or see reception.
