Axl

Axl
No one would have imagined that a man whose destiny seemed to be in fish farming would have a chance to get to know yoga and became a yoga teacher.

Axl was born and raised in a small village in southern Malaysia. Growing up in a farming family, he spent more time on the farm than at home. Tree climbing, fishing and insect catching were his favourite pastimes, which he excelled at. He also enjoyed lots of sporty activities that helped him develop a brawnier physique.

As a child, Axl was optimistic by nature. Then he grew up, experienced a great financial loss with his fish farming business and found his savings all gone. Suddenly, he was a lost man. The situation changed after his wife asked, "Do you want to visit Mysore and experience what yoga can bring you?" He flew to Mysore in 2004 and encountered the ancient science of Ashtanga Yoga, under the tutelage of Sri .K.Pattabhi Jois (Guruji) and his grandson Sharath Jois. With blessings from Sharath, Axl started teaching Ashtanga in 2009 and life has become positive again since.
