Teachers > Ken Wong
Curiosity — and his friend Wing — first brought Ken to yoga in 2010. Having grown up in a Buddhist family, Ken immediately found similarities between Buddhism and yoga philosophy — both focus on one’s inner self. Ken sought the deeper reasons for yoga practice — why we come to our mats – and was committed to understanding the traditional path of yoga.
His search for authentic yoga took him to Uttarkashi in northern India where he attended the Sivananda teacher training, after which he began teaching yoga.
In 2016, Ken met his first Ashtanga teacher Connie Yan who truly opened his eyes. He fell in love with the deep wisdom of the Ashtanga system and followed the lineage to Mysore in south India to practise
with Paramaguru R. Sharath Jois at the Shri K. Pattabhi Jois Ashtanga Yoga Institute. He now makes regular trips to India to study asana and pranayama with his teacher Sharathji.
Ken loves to share what he has gained from yoga in his classes. He hopes to help his students to use yoga as a tool for self-enquiry, to look within themselves to seek inner peace. Ken believes that yoga can help people to find true happiness in the impermanent world.
