Prop Up Your Practice – A Deeper and Safer Access with Sandy Shum & TT Ho

Over three weekends – we will “rope” you in to experience the "wheel" benefits and help you “get the hang” of various yoga poses in this one-of-a-kind CET!

Yoga accessories include the wall rope, yoga wheel and aerial hammock. These are invaluable tools for practitioners who may find themselves relatively stiff, weak or unable to perform certain asanas.

This Training is open to all levels of yoga practioners:

- For those that seek deeper understanding of their body and yoga practices, you benefit from the help of props.
- For aspiring yoga teachers, equip yourself with different props in your practice.
- For teachers, this training programme forms part of your Continuous Education Training that is accredited by Yoga Alliance.

Using props,

• We work on alignment
• We become more aware of our bodies’ orientation
• We experience greater opening of body parts
• We strengthen and tone our bodies
• We access poses that may otherwise be challenging to do on the mat

We focus on using a different yoga accessory or prop each weekend, which is divided into 4 sessions.

In the first couple of sessions, we focus on giving our spine some love with the yoga accessories. Then we work on stretching various body parts and reaching those tight areas more easily.

Session 3 is fun and dynamic, yet beneficial in strengthening and toning the body, thereby achieving better balance and stability. Session 4 finishes the day with harnessing our physical and mental energies to revitalise ourselves.

Weekend 1: Rope You In (Pacific Place)
2 & 3 March 2019

Session 1: Open and Release
Wall rope aids shoulder-opening and safely explores techniques of backward bend with enhanced body awareness.

Session 2: Stretch and Lengthen
Wall rope brings agility and lightness while cultivating focus and concentration.

Session 3: Strengthen and Balance
Wall rope aids to strengthen areas that may be hard to reach with the traction.

Session 4: Equanimity
The physical harness of wall rope directs your body and mind towards a state of equanimity.

Total: 10 hours

Weekend 2: Wheel and Feel (Pacific Place)
9 & 10 March 2019

Session 1: Open and Release
Yoga wheel moves with the contours of your spine, thereby providing a spinal massage as you reap the benefits of backward bend.

Session 2: Stretch and Lengthen
Yoga wheel is a great way to stretch and open various target areas while also releasing tension.

Session 3: Strengthen and Balance
Yoga wheel helps to target specific parts of the body, including the core, glutes and legs.

Session 4: Equanimity
Yoga wheel combines strength and flexibility for a full mind-body challenge.

Total: 10 hours

Weekend 3: Hanging Out (Grand Century Place )
16 &17 March 2019

Session 1: Open and Release
Aerial hammock helps you to open your shoulders and create a supple spine so that you work on poses more comfortably.

Session 2: Stretch and Lengthen
Aerial hammock deepens the stretch without pushing beyond the limit and stressing the joints.

Session 3: Strengthen and Balance
With the aerial hammock’s suspension, you become more focused and work on your core, improving your balance and agility.

Session 4: Equanimity
Aerial hammock works on the entire body and helps you to go where you have never been before.

Total: 10 hours

Each weekend totals 10 hours. To receive a certificate of completion, full attendance is required.
