Shine Your Light – Advanced Training for Yoga Teachers with Dr. Jean Byrne

About the Workshop

Session 1: Trauma-Informed Yoga Workshop

24 March (Sunday)

4:00pm – 6:00pm

Many of us carry through life wounds and pain that attract us to find our own light through yoga and meditation. For teachers, it is essential to know how to make your class trauma-informed so that students always feel welcome and empowered. The way we teach can be triggering or empowering for our students. Join Jean Byrne PhD for a practical and theoretical workshop to help you understand how to change the way you sequence and use language in your classes to help your students flourish. Stay ahead of the changing face of yoga teacher qualification requirements in which trauma-informed teaching modules will soon become a requirement.

Session 2: Art of Adjusting

25 March (Monday)

4:00pm – 6:00pm

Adjusting or ‘assists’ in yoga is an art form handed down from teacher to student. In this practical workshop, Jean will help you understand how to provide beginner, intermediate and advanced asana assists that are empowering, safe and intelligent. Your students will return to class in anticipation of your hands-on skills.

Session 3: Keep it Real  Teaching Accessible Yoga

26 March (Tuesday)

4:00pm – 6:00pm

Accessible Yoga means that whomever walks through the studio door – you can teach them! This practical workshop explores how to adapt yoga postures and flows to ensure that your teaching is inclusive. It includes applications for those who are older, have bigger bodies, or are differently abled. Through experimentation, use of props and creative sequencing, you will learn skills to utilise in your general classes that will help you make sure everyBODY is included. A great opportunity to learn from Senior Yoga Teacher Jean Byrne PhD.
