Hailing from New Delhi, India, Rana loves sports and always enjoys being outdoors. He was first introduced to yoga by his brother when he was 13. Given his interest in physical activities, he learned yoga fervently and rapidly. His love for yoga blossomed in no time. His thirst for knowledge led him toenrolin the world-famous yoga school, the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centre in the State of Kerala in Southwest India. The Yoga Teacher’s Training in 2005 equipped Rana with more than just a solid foundation in hatha yoga, pranayama, deep meditation techniques and yoga philosophy. It also made himrealisethat regular practice of breathing techniques and meditation could bring him an immense sense of bliss,peaceand calm. This discovery becamegreatmotivation for him to share his yoga journey with others.
After a period of teaching in his hometown, Rana went to China in 2006 to spread the benefits of yoga across cities such as Chengdu, Hangzhou, Shanghai,Shenzhenand Wuhan. He overcame the language barrier successfully, gained invaluable teaching experience, and learned important life lessons. He forged lasting friendships and garnered enriching cultural insights of China. In 2011, Rana joined Pure Yoga Singapore to further enrich his yoga teaching experience and to share his knowledge.
Unlike others, Rana is not influenced by any one particular teacher or yoga lineage. The yoga path he has taken is very much an ongoing self-discovery process. His philosophy in life issimple– be a better person today than yesterday. To him, every day is a new experience to be cherished; every person he encounters has something to teachhim; andevery setback has a lessonhecan learn from. His students are his best teachers. Seeing them improve over time and reap benefits from yoga practice inspires him profoundly and brings him immeasurable joy. Rana’s teaching style is sincere, straightforward, structured and suitable for all levels – an approach that makes his students alwayswantingto come back for more.
