Jason Crandell is coming to Singapore with two innovative programmes:

Mastering the Art of Vinyasa Yoga Sequencing is for teachers and experienced practitioners who want to become experts at creating effective, authentic, meaningful sequences that are anatomically rational and compelling for students.

The Move Your Practice Forward Weekend Workshops are for students and teachers with less time to invest, which may be taken as a standalone in the 5-day programme.

In these workshops, you’ll approach challenging poses and variations with greater poise, awareness, and attention to detail. You’ll expand your edge, deepen your practice, and learn to stay connected to your centre in challenging situations.

     

About Jason Crandell

Jason Crandell is a natural teacher and author with more than 15 years of experience. His accessible, grounded classes integrate the best elements of power yoga, anatomical precision and mindfulness teachings. Jason’s articulate, down-to-earth teaching will educate and empower you.

Named “one of the teachers shaping the future of yoga,” by Yoga Journal, Jason has been one of the most in-demand teachers at conferences around the world for over a decade. Considered a “teacher’s teacher,” Jason has taught on countless teacher-training faculties, leads trainings globally, and regularly presents teacher-training content at esteemed conferences.

WHY I CREATED THIS TRAINING

Having trained hundreds of teachers over the course of nearly two decades, the most common challenges that I see teachers struggle with involve sequencing and each of these problems eventually leads to burnout. The first challenge is that many teachers haven’t learned to properly sequence in their foundational programme. They’ve learned to memorise and teach a sequence, but they haven’t learned how to construct their own sequences in a logical, progressive way. The second challenge is when teachers burn themselves out by constantly creating new sequences week-to-week or day-to-day. In this scenario, teachers often stress themselves out with the self-inflicted pressure to constantly create new and different combinations often at the expense of being consistent with their students. The last sequencing struggle that leads to burnout is when teachers don’t completely understand the anatomical foundations for safe, successful, productive sequencing.

I created this programme from years of experience to solve all these challenges and to help you create authentic, effective, logical sequences that make a positive impact in the lives of your students.

    

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN IN THIS TRAINING

This programme will provide you with the tools to develop meaningful, authentic and effective sequences for your classes and personal practice. It will provide you with the knowledge, inspiration and technique to generate fresh, safe sequences that represent your voice and vision as a teacher. You will learn the anatomical rationale that underscores safe, effective sequencing for every postural category. You’ll minimise burnout and ensure that you have a larger, more consistent student population by avoiding the most common sequencing challenges that teachers face.

By completing this training, you will also earn 40-hrs toward Jason Crandell Vinyasa Yoga Method’s Certifications. You can combine these hours with Jason’s future modules to earn your 200-hr or 500-hr Certifications.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT EACH DAY OF THE TRAINING

You will get plenty of practice during this training. Each day starts with seated meditation followed by an accessible, hands-on anatomy discussion that illuminates the sequencing topic of the day. You will then launch into a strong, 2-hr vinyasa practice that explores the anatomy and sequencing concepts of the day. In the afternoon, you’ll break down the anatomical details further while discussing the sequencing principles for each of the postural categories listed in the paragraph above. Each afternoon will conclude with another shorter practice that illustrates the sequencing topic of the day.

We all need to freshen up our practice by tackling new challenges and recommitting to periods of stillness from time-to-time. Otherwise, we risk getting stuck in a rut.

This immersion will move your practice forward through intelligently sequenced vinyasa flow and seated meditation. Jason’s straightforward, accessible method will guide you through all of the regions of your body in an organised, comprehensive way. Each practice will include at least 2 hours of intelligently sequenced vinyasa flow and a minimum of 20 minutes seated meditation.

In order to support your practice further, you will receive fully-illustrated sequences from each workshop to inspire your home-practice for months to come!

Session 1
3 June (Saturday)
Flow Stronger + Sit Longer
10:00am-12:30pm 

This Master Class explores both ends of the movement continuum by including strong, precise vinyasa flow and seated meditation. Some students need to break their habits by moving more strongly and others need to challenge themselves by practising seated meditation. This Master Class expertly weaves movement and stillness together.

Practice will include at least 2 hours of intelligently sequenced vinyasa flow and a minimum of 20 minutes seated meditation. Highlights include:

  • Explore every aspect of Jason’s approach to vinyasa yoga including the best elements of power yoga, anatomical precision and mindfulness practices
  • Strengthen your shoulders, arms and core
  • Create more freedom and ease in your hips, spine and shoulders
  • Learn the essential components of seated meditation in clear, accessible language
  • Challenge your body to explore greater intensity in postures while respecting your edge

    

Session 2
3 June (Saturday)
Strength + Acceptance: A Practice for Your Core
2:00pm-4:30pm

Most students have a complicated relationship with their core. Many feel that their centre is simultaneously too large and too weak. This practice will address both concerns by demystifying the anatomy of your core, teaching you to strengthen your centre, and helping you release unnecessary tension and unconscious holding. You’ll weave core-strengthening postures into salutations, standing poses, arm-balances, abdominal-centred postures.

Practice will include at least 2 hours of intelligently sequenced vinyasa flow and a minimum of 20 minutes seated meditation. Highlights include:

  • Create balanced strength in your abdominals, spine and pelvic floor
  • Release unnecessary and unconscious abdominal tension
  • How to sneak smart, balanced core strengthening into your salutations, standing poses, arm-balances and twists.
  • You will receive an illustrated, core-strengthening sequence based on our workshop to fuel your home practice.

      

Session 3
4 June (Sunday)
Leverage + Power: The Physics of Arm-Balances and Inversions
10:00am-12:30pm

Many students struggle with arm-balances and inversions because they don’t understand their anatomy and haven’t been adequately prepared in their sequence. This practice will break down the anatomy of key arm-balances and teach you a creative, impactful sequence to access these postures.

Practice will include at least 2 hours of intelligently sequenced vinyasa flow and a minimum of 20 minutes seated meditation. Highlights include:

  • Refine your understanding of the classical, essential arm-balances and inversions and set the stage for creative variations
  • Receive 5 illustrated practice sequences for your home practice that will help inspire and improve your arm balances and inversions
  • Learn what preparations make arm-balances and inversions accessible
  • Experiment with different arm-balance and inversion combinations
  • Demystify handstand, forearm balance, bakasana, side-plank, firefly and more

    

Session 4
4 June (Sunday)
Freedom + Clarity: Deeper Backbends Without Struggle or Strain
2:00pm-4:30pm

Practised skilfully, backbends awaken the spine and clear the mind. Unfortunately, we can also compress the lower back and over-expose the front-body if we are too aggressive or performance-oriented. This workshop will teach you to find greater depth and greater comfort in your backbends by using your arms, legs, and spine more effectively.

Practice will include at least 2 hours of intelligently sequenced vinyasa flow and a minimum of 20 minutes seated meditation. Highlights include:

 

  • Learn to decompress your lower-back in Urdhva Dhanurasana (Upward Bow Pose)
  • Discover what postures effectively prepare your hips, spine and shoulders
  • Learn why evenness and integrity in your backbends is more important than range of motion
  • Experienced students will explore what’s beyond Upward Bow, including Kapotasana, Scorpion, Natarajasana and Pigeon Variations; less experienced students will learn alternative postures.
  • Receive a fully-illustrated home practice sequence that will help you with Urdhva Dhanurasana (Upward Bow Pose)
