Teachers > Hari Krishnan
Hailing from Chennai in southern India, Hari had yoga in his life since he was very young. He was a competitive athlete from his childhood to teenage years, representing the national team in high jump. Every time he got injured or stiff, he found yoga for healing – which triggered his practising it more and discovering the joy of learning made him to become a teacher. Hari is forever grateful to the yogic wisdom from his teacher and brother Gopala Krishan, who shared his knowledge and continues to inspire him on and off the mat. Gopala has helped Hari to develop a much deeper understanding of his practice and to be humble, grounded and passionate.
Hari acquired his first diploma in an International Teachers Training Course from Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Dhanwantari Ashram at Neyyar Dam, Kerala (India). Teaching since 2012 has taken Hari to India and Hong Kong, where he has taught at some of the most renowned fitness and yoga institutions. He has also won numerous yoga awards in District, State, National and International level competitions, with other award titles including "Yoga Siromani" & "Yoga Aacharya".
Hari’s classes emphasise grounding the basics, being present in practice, awareness over alignment, gentle adjustments towards joyful and safe practice. Teaching his students to appreciate their bodies, he also encourages them to challenge their comfort zones in a safe and non-competitive way. Hari’s classes are fun, conscious, mindful and inspiring for the body, heart and mind. The intention of his teaching is to allow students to embrace life, learn how to overcome obstacles, set good intentions, and feel relaxed and rejuvenated after each and every class.
