The Power of Alignment with Joan Jolliffe

Human bodies are full of intelligence with muscles, bones and connective tissues working together instinctively to facilitate our daily movements. Our natural connectiveness becomes discorded owing to stress, bad habits, incorrect posture….many people lose strength and suffer from pain and stiffness.

This workshop aims to rebuild inter-connectiveness and arouse consciousness through practising various yoga postures with a focus on hips, legs, feet, arms, shoulders and upper back.

Participants will be guided to practise fundamental to intermediate level asanas based on alignment principles to improve strength, mobility, stability and flexibility as well as develop an awareness of their own postures, enabling conscious self-correction in yoga practice.

Through the workshop, students will have a general understanding of human anatomy in the captioned areas. Expect to review and practise asanas and decode the nuance of each pose according to individual body alignment. Participants will also learn drills for the continuation of their regular personal practice after the workshop.

人體構造充滿智慧,人類日常活動由身體內的骨骼、肌肉、筋膜的自然互動而成。現代人生活因各種原因包括壓力,不良習慣及姿勢等,引致失去力量,令身體欠靈活性甚至帶來痛症。

這工作坊目的是通過各種針對臀、腿、腳、手臂、肩部及上背的瑜伽動作,讓學員重新建立身體內在的連繫及激活身體意識。

學員將循「順位體位法」方向去練習一系列由基礎至中階的瑜伽式子,以達到加強身體力量、活動性、穩定性及柔軟度之效,從而建立瑜伽練習及日常生活中的身體意識。

學員更將於工作坊中學會基本人體結構、各「順位體位法」式子之仔細分析,及課堂外的個人修練方法。

Day 1 : Hips, legs and feet strength and flexibility

13 November (Sat) 10:00am – 12:45pm

A brief anatomy introduction followed by a postural clinic and injury management of individual pose, followed by a full practice that focuses on gaining flexibility and strength. 

第一節:臀部,腿及腳之力量及靈活度

簡介基本人體結構,各順位體位法式子之仔細分析、糾正,及不同姿勢受傷後的處理。加上體位法串流練習,以提升靈活性及力量。

 

 

Session2: Arms, shoulders and upper back stability and mobility

20 November (Sat) 10:00am – 12:45pm

A brief anatomy introduction followed by a postural clinic and injury management of selected poses, followed by a full practice that focuses on shoulder mobility and strength to build stability.

第二節:肩膊、手臂及上背之穩定性及流動性

簡介基本人體結構,各順位體位法式子之仔細分析、糾正,及不同姿勢受傷後的處理。加上對應肩膊靈活度及力量的體位法串流練習。
