Advanced Hip Opening Intensive Training with Aarya Kuldeep

Starstreet Precinct – Wan Chai 13-21 April

Hip opening is essential, the foundation of yogic practices, and one of the most challenging practices in yogic asana. We will focus on intricate body movements and cultivate awareness to achieve essential hip engagement to perform the advanced postures safely with control and stability. From this workshop, students are expected to understand the importance of hip opening, gain better confidence in performing the yogic postures, and know how to practise these intensive postures cautiously on their own.


While practising hip opening asanas, practitioners will have a deep understanding and experience about energy flow, breath control, energy layers and their benefits. Practitioners will have opportunities to integrate their existing practice and knowledge to the next level.


Suitable for advanced levels – interactive and integrated.

1. Foundation – Understanding the anatomy of the hip and hip movements. Learning about eligibilities, potential risk, possibilities and limitations of oneself and intensifying the habit to approach hip opening postures in an appropriate manner to protect the base axis of the human body.


2. Alignment – Identifying individual body types, locating the "boon and bane" and identifying the suitable focus points for approaching the postures.


3.Co-ordination – Recognising the engagement of different muscle groups for the appropriate coordination and balance for stable hip engagement.


4. Progression – Progressing gradually by building up flexibility, strength and mobility to unlock the limitations and become eligible for advanced postures.


5. Awareness and Emotional Freedom – Appreciating the effects of asanas on a holistic level and finding the emotional freedom by performing hip opening postures.
