About the Workshop
In an attempt to master inversions, the pre-requisites of strength, control and flexibility must be met prior – precisely what this workshop aims to impart!
Join Daria for a fun-filled and highly immersive 2-Day intensive to gain better awareness, control and mobility of your body. You will learn the relevant skill-sets to get upside down as well as remain in that position. Even if you have no immediate goal of becoming an inversion junkie, the skills needed to develop a free-standing inversion provides a unique experience and greater understanding of your mind and body in the long run.
The benefits derived from engaging in these poses can also help to propel your personal yoga practice forward. Come build the skill and confidence to go upside down anywhere!

Description & Schedule
Session 1: Beginner's Inversions
9 January 2021 (Saturday), 9:00am to 12:00pm
This session will focus on:
- Proper warm-up for forearm stand and handstand
- Building upper body and core strength
- How to get yourself upside down (forearm & handstand) with the help of the wall and a partner
- Understanding the form of forearm stand and handstand and learning the drills and skills necessary to achieve a free-standing inversion
Session 2: Beginner's Flexibility
9 January 2021 (Saturday), 1:00pm to 4:00pm
This session will focus on important elements of developing flexibility – dynamic stretching to build full range of motion, static stretching and so-called yin-style holds to open your body deeper in order to achieve ease in inversion practice.
The session will include:
- Warm-ups for shoulders, hips and back
- Preparations for Front split (Hanumanasana), Side split (Samakonasana), Wheel pose (Urdhva Dhanurasana) and its variations
Session 3: Advanced Inversions
10 January 2021 (Sunday), 9:00am to 12:00pm
*Recommended for practitioners who can kick up into Forearm stand and Handstand against the wall and hold for at least 10 seconds
- Full body conditioning
- How to start applying balance into forearm stand and handstand
- Entries to inversions
- Legs & arms variations for inversions
- Straight vs. bent inversions
- How to fall out of an inversion safely
- Breathing techniques
- Transitions between inversions and other yoga poses
Session 4: Advanced Flexibility
10 January 2021 (Sunday), 1:00pm to 4:00pm
*Recommended for practitioners who have a flat Front splits or close (Hanumanasana)/ flat Wide-Angle Seated Forward Bend or close (Upavistha Konasana)
This session will show you how to advance your practice by learning to go beyond your limitations. Explore new techniques on how to deepen the stretch for your hips, shoulders and back, which will help to take your inversions practice to the next level.
The session will include:
Oversplits and its variations, Wheel pose (Urdhva Dhanurasana) and its variations, Full king dancer pose (Natarajasana), Forearm Wheel (Dwipada Viparita Dandasana) and its variations, Scorpion (Vrschikasana), Chin Stand (Ganda Bherundasana)
