About the Workshop
Project Float is designed with the advanced practitioner in mind: those seeking a touch of lightness and a flair of elegance.
The objective of our exploration is to adequately condition the body and discipline the mind such that complex and intense transitions can be performed with relative ease.
The execution of such movements requires a high level of preparation and practitioners should be more concerned with how they can progress and acquire these skills beyond the workshop, as opposed to mastering them within the given timeframe.
This is a workshop meant to guide practitioners towards the execution of jumping and floating forwards and backwards as commonly encountered in Vinyasa and Ashtanga classes.
There will be a deep emphasis on the necessary preparation of joints and detailed breakdowns of the aforementioned techniques. One should also expect a fair amount of Press and Mobility work.
Schedule & Description
Session 1: Jump
28 August 2021 (Saturday), 10:00am to 3:00pm - 4 hours total
In this session, you will learn:
- Joint preparation and alignment for Jumping Forwards and Backwards
- Specific techniques tailored towards achieving efficient and optimal transitions
- Translating these concepts to advanced Jumping movements such as to and from Arm Balances
Session 2: Float
29 August 2021 (Sunday), 10:00am to 3:00pm - 4 hours total
“Leverage & Lightness"
In this session, you will learn:
- Joint preparation and alignment for Floating Forwards and Backwards
- Specific drills tailored to developing the required mobility and strength levels
- Translating these concepts to Pressing up into Inversions
- Chest To Wall Handstand 1-min hold
- Consistent Kick-up to Inversion against wall
- Palm-to-floor Forward Fold
