40-Hour Inner Retreat Pranayama & Breathwork Teacher Training with Wendy Wyvill

Join Wendy for an Inner Retreat where she will share the nature of Prana and how this very simple act of breathing has profound effects on our health and well-being. 

 

Breathwork is the modern-day term for Pranayama. In traditional terms, Pranayama is the practice of expanding, purifying and containing Prana. Essentially it is our life force. Yogis use Pranayama to anchor the mind in the present moment, which helps tremendously with our work and stress. When we can relax, let go of our habitual stress patterns and turn our mind towards our breath, we can regulate our nervous system and help with our mental health hygiene. Becoming functional breathers is key. We may all think that we are breathing correctly, but most of us are not and our health is at risk. If you are a yogi, teacher, athlete or couch potato, it is essential to re-learn how to take a functional breath. The primary function of breathing is to oxygenate our cells. Our bodily systems need oxygen to thrive but if we're not breathing correctly, we may be starving our body of oxygen rather than feeding it. And if we're not teaching Pranayama correctly to our students, we may be harming them rather than helping them heal. 

 

In this training, Wendy weaves together functional breathing with functional movement and yoga philosophy to help her students restore their health by re-gaining their breathing power. The Inner Retreat will have lecture and practice components that will help students learn how to teach and practise Pranayama correctly. The practical element will consist of seated practice as well as moving Vinyasa Asana.

 

Through the 25-hr home self-study, participants will gain insight into their own breathing Samskaras (Habits) and learn how their biomechanics and biochemistry affects their overall health. There is also a practical teaching assignment and homework.

ABOUT THE TEACHER: WENDY WYVILL

Wendy is a certified Yoga, Pranayama and Breathwork instructor with over 25 years of teaching experience. Her goal is to educate yoga teachers and students to teach and practise Pranayama correctly and empower them to feel comfortable bringing it into every yoga class.

**This Training will consist of 15 hours of studio practical and 25 hours of home study
 
25 hours of home study includes:
  1. 1-hour daily breathwork self-practice with some journalling. (Broken down into small chunks throughout the day)
  2. 4 hours of homework and practice teaching over the 3 weeks
  3. 1-hour online session on each of the 3 Sundays.
  4. Short videos will be given to guide home practice.
