About the Workshop 

In this workshop, we will break down and take an in-depth look at fundamental yoga asanas practised in most active classes. Basic concepts of how our body moves and how it translates into healthy alignment of each pose will be covered.


Together, let us develop better body awareness, build a strong foundation for safe progression of your yoga practice, and practise coordinating the breath & movement. Have your doubts and concerns answered and discover ways to customise your practice for a fruitful yoga journey. Leave feeling confident and empowered to take on different class types and other asanas in a safe, sustainable way!


Some pranayama and mindfulness practices may be included.

This is a workshop that provides practitioners with a strong foundation of skills and knowledge for a mindful, introspective practice. Practitioners can look forward to applying this knowledge when they feel ready to challenge themselves with other intermediate/advanced postures in the future.



This workshop is suitable for all levels of practitioners looking to strengthen the basics for future progression of practice and will be especially helpful for those who are looking to deepen their practice.

Schedule & Description 

27 August 2022 (Saturday)

Session 1: Happy & Healthy Hips (Hips & Legs)

9:00am – 12.30pm

As the largest weight-bearing joint in the human body, many budding yoga practitioners often cite the hips as a stiff area.

In this session, we will cover the main movements of the hip and how it translates into healthy alignment in common poses like warrior 1, 2, 3, chair pose, pigeon pose, and bridge pose.


Session 2: Sturdy & Supple Spine (Spine)

2:00pm – 5.30pm

The spine is our body’s central support structure and in our yoga practice, every single movement involves the spine.

In this session, we will break down the 4 main movements that the spine is capable of and how it translates into the forward folds, backbends, side stretches and twists that we see in most yoga classes.

We will also include the core muscles as they perform the very important function of stabilising the trunk of the body.


28 August 2022 (Sunday)

Session 3: Strong & Steady Shoulders (Shoulders & Arms)

9:00am – 12.30pm

The shoulders are one of the most complex, mobile and delicate joints in the entire body.

Due to lifestyle and postural habits, many city-dwellers complain of tightness and pain in the shoulder-neck region, making it one of the most common areas that budding yoga practitioners struggle with.

In this session, we will explore the different movements of our shoulders and different ways to engage and strengthen the shoulders in poses that heavily involve them like downward facing dog, planks, cow face pose, etc.
