Defying Gravity: Arm Balance 30-Hour CET Programme with Gopal Palanisamy
30 June-21 July World Trade Centre – Causeway Bay
In this immersion, you will understand the foundation of arm balances and learn the different dimensions to excel in them. You will learn the basic anatomy over arms and shoulders on how to train and use them. We will discuss the dos and don’ts during arm balancing practice to reduce the risk of potential injuries in the hips, wrist and shoulders, making the practice more enjoyable and injury-free for everyone. You will learn the proper way of breathing for engaging the right muscles to feel lighter.
*Anyone with a good foundation on basics and have a good intention to learn.
*All beginners to intermediate practitioners are welcome – there will be options for all the arm balancing poses
In this workshop we will work on:
- Strength and Stability: Arm balances require significant upper body strength, specifically in the arms, shoulders, and core. Practising these poses helps to build and develop these muscles, promoting overall strength and stability in the body.
- Concentration and Focus: Arm balances often require a high level of concentration and focus as they challenge your balance and equilibrium. Engaging in these poses helps to cultivate mental clarity, discipline, and mindfulness.
- Core Activation: Arm balances activate and strengthen the core muscles, including the abdominal and deep stabiliser muscles. A strong core not only supports the arm balances but also improves posture and overall body functionality.
- Body Awareness and Control: Arm balances require a heightened sense of body awareness and control. They encourage you to refine your alignment, engage specific muscles, and develop a keen sense of proprioception (the awareness of your body in space).
- Overcoming Fear and Building Confidence: Arm balances can be intimidating, especially for beginners. By gradually working on these poses, you can develop courage, overcome fears, and build confidence in your practice and yourself.
- Energy and Pranic Flow: Arm balances stimulate energy flow and activate prana (life force) in the body. These poses can create a sense of lightness, energise the system, and increase vitality.
- Transcendence of Limitations: The process of learning and progressing in arm balances teaches us to surpass our perceived limitations. As we develop strength, flexibility, and resilience, we discover the potential to go beyond what we thought was possible on both physical and mental levels.
