阿斯湯加邁索爾實驗室 Ashtanga Mysore Lab with Samantha Tang

Saturdays, 22, 29 June & 6 July MOKO – Mong Kok

Class 1 – Mysore, History & Origin of Ashtanga
This class will cover the history of Ashtanga Vinyasa & how to incorporate this dynamic practice along with 8-limbs yoga (Ashtanga) incited by Patanjali.

Beyond the conventional perception towards Ashtanga as a “fixed sequence”, Mysore style, as a self-paced practice, is intended for individual needs. By understanding how it came about, how it develops from Krishnamacharya, Pattabhi Jois and different eras of Jois’ students, it will help us to develop a deeper understanding behind the seemingly fixed sequence, elevate the practice beyond unlocking physical postures, viewing a bigger picture of 8-limbs yoga.

Class 2 – Mysore & Primary Series Asana Clinic
Asana clinic, a breakdown of some of the gateway poses in the Primary Series.

Each Ashtanga student begins by practising the Primary Series, also known as Yoga Chikitsa. Mastering solid techniques helps to realign, detoxify the body and nervous system as well as developing inner strength. Understanding the intelligence behind the sequence will also help each individual to understand when it’s time to get “stuck” onto poses and when it is a time to modify.

Class 3 – Mysore & Hands-on Adjustment Clinic
We will explore hands-on adjustments, an important medium for communication instead of verbal teaching in Ashtanga. Besides learning important techniques of safe adjustments, students will learn why it is important to set an intention to adjust.
